Breaking a recent pattern of semi-final defeats, Novak Djokovic has reached the Hellenic Championship final in Athens after defeating Yannick Hanfmann 6-3, 6-4. The win sees the Serbian superstar, who is pursuing his 101st career ATP title, through to another championship match.
Djokovic showcased his enduring prowess in the Athens semi-final, overcoming a mid-match challenge from the determined qualifier Hanfmann. After dropping his serve early in the first set, Djokovic regrouped, launching a comeback to take control of the proceedings. His commanding performance on the indoor hard surface, characterized by powerful serves and exceptional mobility, sealed the victory in swift fashion.
“I felt my game was at its peak today, precisely when it mattered most,” Djokovic shared following the encounter. “Yannick’s game is dangerous with his big serve and offensive play, so I had to stay locked in. Recovering that break in the second set was important for my confidence. I’m very eager for the final.”
This semi-final success follows Djokovic’s milestone 200th indoor-court victory and 199th tour-level semi-final appearance earlier in the week. He will compete for the Hellenic Championship trophy against either Lorenzo Musetti or Sebastian Korda, gaining valuable momentum for his future tournaments.
