Dewald Brevis, on Monday, October 31, scored his maiden T20 century off 35 balls in opposition to the Knights within the CSA T20 Challenge. The Titans beat the Knights by 41 runs in Potchefstroom.

By India Today Web Desk: Young South Africa batter Dewald Brevis stated that he prefers to observe AB de Villiers and his model of play. On Monday, October 31, Brevis scored 172 runs off 57 balls whereas enjoying for the Titans in a CSA T20 Challenge match in opposition to the Knights at Potchefstroom.

The 19-year-old Brevis, who performs for the Mumbai Indians (MI) within the Indian Premier League (IPL) stormed to his hundred off 35 balls, after which he notched the quickest T20 fifty off 52 balls.

“From young – and still now – I watch lots of videos even on Instagram about AB and all these guys, [as to] how they hit the ball,” Brevis was quoted as saying to Supersport.

“And I like AB’s natural bat swing. And back in your head, you get a visual of how the ball goes, how the bat falls and everything. So I try to watch as most as much as possible, and to just also be myself,” he said.

After he racked up his maiden T20 century, de Villiers lauded him for taking part in the stupendous knock. “Dewald Brevis. No need to say more,” he wrote.

The Johannesburg-born Brevis smashed 13 fours and 13 sixes and helped the Titans put up a colossal rating of 271 after being put in to bat first.

“Even as a young boy, I have always wanted to hit the ball as far as possible. And for me, from the start, it’s always [about being] positive and fearless. You don’t want to go on the reckless side, but just play ball by ball, stay positive and be in the moment. I just stayed in the moment,” Brevis added.

Brevis did not cease there and picked up an vital wicket of Gerald Coetzee, though he leaked 36 runs in his two overs.

On the again of his all-round efficiency, the Titans beat the Knights by 41 runs at Senwes Park.
