Australia won the T20 series against South Africa 2-1, with Dewald Brevis making a strong impact. Brevis was the series’ leading run-scorer but fell short of a record set by Virat Kohli. Brevis’s 180 runs were less than Kohli’s 199 runs in a previous series by 20 runs.
Virat Kohli scored 199 runs in a three-match T20 series in Australia in 2016. His performance included an unbeaten 90 in the first match, which India won by 37 runs. He followed this up with an unbeaten 59 in the second T20, another victory for India. In the final match in Sydney, Kohli scored 50 runs, completing a 3-0 series sweep for India.
Brevis scored 180 runs in the 2025 series against Australia. He scored two runs in the first match but made an unbeaten century in the second with 125 runs. In the third T20, he scored 53 runs, but his team did not win. He missed out on Kohli’s record by 20 runs.
Brevis topped the list of most sixes hit in T20 cricket in 2025, with 79 sixes. Mitchell Owen of Australia and Sahibzada Farhan of Pakistan tied for second with 77 sixes each.
