Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are reportedly in advanced talks to sign KL Rahul for the IPL 2026 season. Rahul, currently playing brilliantly in England, has become a prime target for KKR. His consistent performances, including two centuries, have turned heads in the cricketing world. Rahul’s form has attracted interest from numerous IPL franchises looking for both batting prowess and leadership. Delhi Capitals previously signed Rahul for Rs 14 crore, and he performed well. KKR is reportedly ready to offer up to Rs 25 crore to acquire him. Beyond his batting, KKR sees Rahul as a potential captain, a position that has been unstable since the 2025 season. Under Ajinkya Rahane, KKR struggled, failing to qualify for the playoffs, highlighting the need for a stable leader. KKR’s leadership crisis is partly attributed to letting go of Shreyas Iyer and changes in coaching staff, leading to strategic inconsistencies. The biggest challenge for KKR is to convince Delhi Capitals to release Rahul, who was a key player. This potential trade could be a pivotal moment for KKR and the entire IPL 2026, given Rahul’s value as a top-order batter, wicketkeeper, and proven captain.
