By India Today Web Desk: Lovlina Borgohain and Mohammad Hussamuddin have superior to the semi-finals of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Amman, Jordan. India’s contingent has been spectacular on the ongoing World Boxing Championships.

Two-time Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Mohammad Hussamuddin beat South Korea’s Haengseok Lee within the quarter-final bout to advance to the last-4 stage. Hussamuddin fell behind early on together with his rival touchdown clear punches within the opening spherical. But Hussamuddin went all out within the subsequent two rounds to dominate his option to a 5-0 win and assure yet one more medal for India on the World Championships.

The 28-year-old will now face the 2021 World Championships silver medallist Serik Temirzha in his semi-final bout on November 10.

Earlier, Lovlina Borgohain beat Valentina Khalzova of Kazakhstan to progress to the semi-final stage. The 25-year-old needed to work onerous to earn a 3-2 cut up choice victory towards the 2016 world champion Khalzova. The Assam boxer has moved up weight classes to the 75kg division as her former weight class does not function within the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Earlier on Saturday, debutants Minakshi (52kg) and Preeti (57kg) and world championship bronze medallist Parveen had sealed their semi-final berths on the World Championships.

But it was not all clean crusing for all Indian boxers as Thailand Open gold medallist Ananta Chopade misplaced 0-4 towards Seidekmatov Sanzhai of Kazakhstan to be eradicated within the quarter-final stage of the match. Earlier, Pooja suffered a 0-5 defeat by the hands of Kazakhstan’s Dariga Shakimova in her quarter-final bout within the 70kg class.

Five Indian males pugilists, Narender (+92kg), Naveen Kumar (92kg), Lakshya Chahar (80kg), Sumit (75kg) and Sachin (71kg) will take to the ring on Monday to compete within the quarterfinals stage. The ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Amman is witnessing participation of 267 boxers from 27 prime boxing nations.
