The Asia Cup 2025, scheduled from September 9th to September 28th, has seen a modification to its schedule. The BCCI has announced a change in match timings, impacting the tournament.
A significant number of matches, including the crucial India vs. Pakistan match, will now start at 6:30 PM local time. This represents a 30-minute delay from the original schedule. As a result, matches that were set to begin at 7:30 PM IST will now commence at 8:00 PM IST.
The change was made due to the anticipated extreme heat during September across the subcontinent, where temperatures can climb to 40°C. This raised concerns about player safety and the overall quality of play. The BCCI requested a delay in the match times from broadcasters, which was agreed upon.
All of India’s matches, including those in the group stage and any knockout games, will now adhere to the new timings, starting at 8:00 PM IST. This offers fans a later, more convenient viewing experience.
Notably, the UAE vs. Oman match, scheduled for September 15th at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, will be played according to the original schedule. The purpose of these timing adjustments is to protect the players from the most intense heat and to give viewers prime-time access to cricket action during the Asia Cup 2025.
