With the Asia Cup 2025 drawing near, Bangladesh is employing unique training methods to prepare for the tournament. The competition, which begins on September 9th, will feature eight teams playing in a T20 format. The Bangladeshi team is focusing on enhancing its power-hitting abilities.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has brought in Julian Wood, a power-hitting coach, to assist in this endeavor. Wood is using the ProVelocity bat, typically employed in baseball and softball, to help the cricketers improve their hand-eye coordination and power-hitting skills. Images from training sessions show Litton Das, the T20 captain, practicing various shots with the specialized bat under Wood’s guidance.
The ProVelocity bat, measuring 32 inches and weighing around 1190 grams, is central to this training. A Bangladeshi batsman has expressed enthusiasm about the new approach. Julian Wood has a proven track record of enhancing power hitting, having previously worked with the English team.
Bangladesh is scheduled to play its first match in the Asia Cup 2025 on September 11th against Hong Kong. They are in a group that includes Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
