Ajit Agarkar’s personal life includes a significant milestone: his marriage to Fatima Ghadially, a Muslim woman. The couple tied the knot in 2002 after navigating familial objections. These stemmed from religious differences, as Agarkar is of Marathi Brahmin background and Fatima is Muslim. Their relationship blossomed after Agarkar met Fatima, who is the sister of his friend, and they dated for three years before getting married. Fatima is two years older than Agarkar. The couple now has a son, and their marriage has lasted for 23 years.
Fatima’s brother, Mazhar, was a friend of Ajit Agarkar. Fatima, who worked as a management consultant, frequently attended cricket matches with her brother, leading to her meeting with Agarkar in 1999.
Despite initial disapproval, the couple managed to gain acceptance from their families, leading to their marriage on February 9, 2002. Agarkar was also a key player in the Indian team that won the 2007 T20I World Cup.
On the professional front, Ajit Agarkar was known for his all-round contributions to the Indian cricket team. He played 26 Test matches, securing 58 wickets and scoring 571 runs. His ODI record includes 288 wickets in 191 matches and 1269 runs with three half-centuries. Agarkar also took 3 wickets in 4 T20I matches.
