By India Today Web Desk: Melbourne Renegades stand-in skipper Aaron Finch was gutted after a controversial rule surrounding the roof on the Docklands Stadium erupted within the Big Bash League (BBL) 2022-23 match on Saturday, January 14.

In the Renegades’ match towards the Stars within the Melbourne derby, twice did it occur that the batting staff was awarded six runs after the ball hit the roof on the venue.

In the primary ball of the third over in the course of the Stars’ run-chase, Joe Clarke skied one off pacer Will Sutherland and the ball crashed on to the roof. The on-field umpire signaled a six. Clarke was batting on 15 and went on to attain 59 runs off 37 balls with two fours and 5 sixes.

In the sixteenth over, Beau Webster hit one straight up within the air off Tom Rogers. The ball hit the roof and but once more, the Renegades received six runs. However, the roof rule didn’t price the Renegades a lot as they received the match by six wickets.

However, Finch discovered it powerful to search out logic behind giving the batting staff six runs on the ball hitting the roof.’

“The rule is what it is, it’s the same for both teams, so I don’t think you can complain. But it would have been two dismissals. Joe Clarke in the third over, that makes a big difference in the game,” Finch was quoted as saying.

“It’s onerous to police since you’ve received these beams that cling over, they’re already over the boundary so if it hits that it’s best to get six. If you hit it straight up and get six, actually, I do not know,” he added.

Sutherland also said that he was furious after Clarke got a lifeline at the start of the Stars’ run-chase.

“Definitely can it after they’d two go their method. I set free a couple of expletives. It was even for either side however I’d wish to suppose it could be lifeless ball going ahead,” Sutherland stated.

Chasing 163, the Stars completed with 156 for the lack of seven wickets. Kane Richardson grew to become the Player of the Match for his spell of 4-0-17-2.
