Dr Talat Majeed, a former member of the banned Jama’ateIslami J&K, is contesting the Pulwama Assembly constituency as an independent candidate in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. Historically, Jama’ateIslami members have adhered to a policy of nonparticipation in elections, a stance maintained since 1987.
