    LIVE Air India Plane Crash: 18 people killed in Kozhikode accident, flight data recorder recovered from aircraft

    Kozhikode, Agencies.  Air India aircraft coming from Dubai fell victim to the accident at Kozhikode in Kerala late on Friday evening. The runway was flooded due to heavy rains and the aircraft slipped into a ditch about 50 feet deep at the time of landing. The aircraft had a total of 190 passengers, of which 18 people have died and 127 have been injured. According to the information, the Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR) has been recovered from the aircraft. Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has left for Kozhikode Airport. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Governor Arif Mohammad Khan will also visit Kozhikode today.

    Air India Plane Crash Live:

    The aircraft was on Vande Bharat campaign

    The Boeing 737 aircraft were bringing back stranded Indians in the Gulf countries under the Vande Bharat campaign. The crash occurred at 7:41 pm on the tabletop runway number 10 of Karipur Airport in Kozhikode on Friday evening and broke into two pieces. The first part suffered more damage. Thankfully, the plane was not on fire and a large number of people survived. Due to rain, low light also became a reason for the accident.

    AAIB will investigate the accident

    Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri expressed deep grief over the accident. He tweeted, 'Sad and saddened by the air crash in Kozhikode. Every effort is being made to help the passengers. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) will investigate the incident. In a late night tweet, Puri said, "According to the flight list, there were 190 people on board. These include 174 adult passengers, 10 newborns, four crew members and two pilots. '

    Tried twice to land

    According to the global flight tracker website 'Flytradar24', the Air India Express aircraft in Kerala circled several times before crashing at Kozhikode Airport and tried to land twice more, but it was not successful. Rias, a passenger on the plane, also confirmed that the aircraft had tried to land twice earlier. Another passenger, Fatima, said that the plane had come down very fast and had gone ahead.
