Woman in Uttar Pradesh raped by husband, brother-in-law after ‘triple talaq’

SHAHJAHANPUR: A lady right here was allegedly raped a number of instances by her husband and his youthful brother after ‘triple talaq,’ with the involvement of a number of different folks, together with a cleric, police stated on Friday.

Police are looking out to arrest six folks in all.

According to the grievance filed by the lady, she had married one Salman 5 years in the past. Salman divorced her a couple of months in the past underneath the triple talaq system, which has been outlawed.

“Salman on the suggestion of a cleric, one Guddu Haji, later told the woman that he would accept her as his wife again if she married and divorced his younger brother,” her grievance learn.

Even after she did as she was requested, the youthful brother refused to divorce her and each brothers took to raping her, stated a senior police officer.

“On the assurance of Salman the woman married his brother Islam but the latter refused to divorce her. Since then, the woman has alleged that both Salman and Islam gang-raped her on several occasions,” Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar stated.

The girl went to a neighborhood court docket together with her grievance and the FIR was lodged after the court docket’s order on Monday.

“Based on the complaint we have booked Guddu Haji, Salman, Islam and three of their family members under sections of Gangrape (376 IPC), unnatural sex (377D IPC) along with sections of Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019,” stated the officer.

The girl was taken for a medical examination and offered earlier than a Justice of the Peace to document her assertion.

“The accused in the case are absconding and efforts are being made to arrest them,” Kumar stated.
