The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather alerts across multiple states due to the impact of heavy rains, which are causing significant disruptions. Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, has experienced new spells of rain, and Nagpur, Maharashtra, has seen severe waterlogging following continuous downpours. The IMD forecasts an active monsoon over Central India for the next four to five days.
Extremely heavy rainfall is predicted for Madhya Pradesh between July 9 and 14. Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh will experience heavy rainfall on July 9 and 10, while West Bengal and Jharkhand can expect it on July 9, and Odisha on July 9, 13, and 14. The warning also includes Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, West Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, and East Rajasthan.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Nagpur has issued a warning for moderate flash floods in some watershed areas and nearby areas in the next few hours. The areas likely to be impacted are Gondia, Chandrapur, Nagpur, Amravati, Bhandara, and Chandrapur. Incessant rainfall has severely affected agricultural areas, leading to considerable crop damage.
Torrential rains are expected in Konkan, Goa, the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Saurashtra, Kutch, and the Gujarat region in the next 24 hours. The northeastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh, are advised to keep track of the IMD’s latest weather bulletins, with heavy rainfall expected from July 9 to 14.
