Anmol Bishnoi, a wanted fugitive in India associated with the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui and numerous other criminal cases, has been extradited from the United States and is arriving in New Delhi on Wednesday. His arrival is anticipated at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on a flight carrying a large contingent of 199 deportees from the US.
As the younger brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, Anmol Bishnoi is a central figure in several ongoing investigations. Indian authorities are particularly focused on his alleged involvement in the assassination of Baba Siddiqui and the firing incident at actor Salman Khan’s residence in April 2024. Reports indicate that Bishnoi left India in April 2022 with a forged passport, shortly before the Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala was killed.
The successful extradition is a testament to the collaborative work of multiple Indian law enforcement and intelligence agencies. The Mumbai Police have been instrumental in pursuing his extradition. The decision on which agency takes immediate custody of Bishnoi will be made by the Union government, given the array of cases against him. Bishnoi’s recent detentions in the US and Canada, where he was reportedly using forged documents, highlight the international scope of the operation. The National Investigation Agency had previously announced a substantial reward for any information leading to his arrest.
The murder of Baba Siddiqui and the Sidhu Moosewala case investigations have prominently featured Anmol Bishnoi’s name. Zeeshan Siddique, son of the late Baba Siddiqui, has acknowledged Bishnoi’s removal from US soil, confirming his impending return to face justice. Baba Siddiqui’s murder in Bandra led to extensive arrests and the invocation of MCOCA by the Mumbai Police, with Anmol Bishnoi being designated a wanted accused in the organized crime case.
