In a recent press conference, Rahul Gandhi, a Congress MP, addressed the issue of vote deletion, accusing the government and the Election Commission of wrongdoing. Gandhi presented evidence to back up his claims, illustrating how votes were allegedly deleted, with a focus on targeting Congress voters. He specifically accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of protecting those who are undermining the democratic process. Gandhi gave specific examples of vote deletion in Karnataka’s Aland constituency. He detailed an incident where an attempt was made to delete over 6,000 votes. He described how a booth-level officer discovered his uncle’s vote had been deleted, and found the responsible party was a neighbor. Gandhi pointed out a centralized system for deleting votes, with automated filings and out-of-state mobile numbers being used. He highlighted instances of voters, like Godabai, who had their votes deleted without their knowledge, and others who had their votes deleted with incredible speed. He further added that he is receiving information from within the Election Commission.
