The United States has taken a decisive step by designating The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy organization of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar welcomed the move as a strong testament to the counter-terrorism cooperation between India and the US. The TRF had claimed responsibility for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in numerous civilian casualties.
The US State Department’s statement revealed that the TRF has been involved in multiple attacks on Indian security forces. The decision, according to the US government, reflects the ongoing commitment to counter-terrorism efforts. TRF has been added to LeT’s designation, demonstrating a firm stance against terrorism. This decision reflects the importance of global cooperation in combating terrorism and enforcing justice. Earlier this week, EAM Jaishankar, speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting in Tianjin, emphasized the importance of taking an uncompromised stance against terrorism, citing the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack, which was condemned by the UN Security Council.
