A stampede at a political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, resulted in the loss of 39 lives, including numerous women and children. The incident occurred during a rally organized by actor and politician Vijay’s party, TVK. The DGP indicated that the crowd had begun to assemble long before the scheduled start, and many attendees had been waiting for extended periods without food or water. A witness reported that Vijay was expected at 11 AM, but arrived much later. The government has announced an investigation and compensation for the victims.
