To manage traffic flow, diversions have been put in place at several roundabouts along the 130-meter road in Greater Noida West. These diversions involve the establishment of U-turns on either side of the roundabouts. Temporary barriers have been used to close off these roundabouts, serving as a short-term solution. According to the Greater Noida Authority, permanent barriers will be installed after the Kavad Yatra to provide a long-term solution to traffic congestion.
At the Ek Murti roundabout in Greater Noida West, a temporary barrier has been created using Noida Police barriers and iron grills held together by ropes. However, passersby often bypass these barriers, which allows two-wheelers and e-rickshaws to navigate through the area. This action disrupts the diversion strategy and results in the recurrence of traffic jams.
The Greater Noida Authority has implemented traffic diversions on both sides of the roundabouts. A portion of the Iteda roundabout has been closed off using broken street light poles, large stones, and iron barriers. The installation of permanent barriers is expected to greatly reduce traffic congestion. While temporary measures have provided some relief, the lack of permanent infrastructure limits their overall effectiveness.
Manish Kumar, a resident of Greater Noida West, filed a complaint on the Chief Minister’s portal, requesting the installation of permanent barriers to combat the persistent traffic jams. Narottam Singh, Senior Manager of the Greater Noida Authority, mentioned that temporary barriers were installed to ensure a smooth flow of traffic during the Kavad Yatra. The installation of permanent barriers is scheduled for consideration after the event.
