The Jammu and Kashmir Police force is celebrating the prestigious Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak awarded to nineteen of its personnel for their outstanding performance in ‘Operation Mahadev’. This award is a direct acknowledgement of their courage, competence, and vital contribution to national security.
The honored officers include IGP Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, as well as DIG Pande Rajiv Omprakash, SSP Srinagar G V Sundeep Chakraborty, SPs Tanweer Ahmed Dar and Zoheb Tanveer, and DSPs Vikram Nag, Shakir Hassan, Mubashir Naiz, and Taseer Hamid. The recognition spans across ranks, emphasizing the collective spirit and dedication of the J&K Police in combating terrorism.
This high honor is bestowed to commend exceptional work and foster advanced professional standards in crucial fields such as counter-terrorism operations, criminal investigations, intelligence gathering, and applied forensic sciences. The awards were announced on October 31, 2025, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
‘Operation Mahadev’, a significant counter-terrorist offensive, took place in the dense forests near Dachigam National Park, Srinagar. It was a direct retaliatory action following the April 22 Pahalgam attack. The operation achieved its objective by eliminating three Pakistani terrorists, including Suleiman alias Asif, the operative identified as instrumental in planning the attack that claimed 26 civilian lives. The successful outcome of this operation highlights the J&K Police’s effectiveness in maintaining law and order and eradicating terror threats.
