A disturbing video from Mahubabad town in Telangana shows a violent clash between two women over urea fertilizer. The incident took place at the Agros Rythu Seva Kendra located at Vivekananda center and has garnered the attention of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. In the video, the women can be seen physically assaulting each other on a public road. Two men eventually intervened to separate the women, while bystanders were seen cheering and whistling rather than attempting to mediate the situation.
The altercation began when farmers were waiting in line with photocopies of their Aadhaar cards to collect fertilizer bags. The line and resulting jostling quickly turned into a fight, which was captured in a video that soon went viral.
CM Revanth Reddy reacted to the video, explaining that urea stocks are available, but the lengthy queues can give the impression of scarcity and cause confusion. He noted that the large gathering can make the line seem endless, similar to the long queues for popular movies.
Reddy also added that the extended wait times contribute to frustration and can worsen the situation. He said that a person at the end of a queue with 1,000 people may have to wait 8 hours. Such a wait, coupled with impatience, can lead to frustration, complaints of urea shortages, and potential protests.
In a separate incident documented in another video from the same district, farmers were seen crowding around an Agro center owner on Saturday, September 6, in Nellikudur mandal of Mahabubabad, who was distributing tokens for urea. The farmers surrounded him and pulled at him, attempting to get the tokens. The agro center owner, unable to manage the situation, began throwing tokens in an effort to escape the crowd.
