The Delhi government has postponed the implementation of its fuel ban targeting End-of-Life (EOL) vehicles. Delhi’s Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa informed the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) about the suspension, attributing it to several technical challenges. The Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera system, designed to facilitate the ban, has been experiencing issues, including system failures and insufficient integration with existing data networks. The government cited these issues, along with the absence of such a ban in neighboring regions, as the basis for the delay. Public opinion includes both criticism and support for the measure’s intent, with a vehicle owner expressing support for the initiative.
