Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh are preparing for severe weather, with forecasts of heavy rain and hail. Uttarakhand has issued a red alert for Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, and Haridwar, with predictions of exceptionally heavy rainfall. An orange alert is in place for September 2nd, warning of very heavy to heavy rain in several districts. Heavy showers are expected throughout many parts of the state. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in 15 districts and warnings for 29 more, with the likelihood of thunderstorms and lightning. Schools have been closed in multiple districts, including Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, and Champawat. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken action to ensure public safety, instructing officials to monitor the situation. Sadly, two people, including a woman, lost their lives in Tehri district on Sunday due to the heavy rain. Uttar Pradesh is also facing a high rain forecast across numerous districts. The IMD anticipates that Uttar Pradesh will receive more than average rainfall in September. The capital, Lucknow, received a significantly higher amount of rainfall in August. The forecast for September suggests the potential for normal or above-normal rainfall in the central regions of the state, including the capital.
