A major police operation in Punjab’s Mohali district has led to the arrest of four key shooters associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang after an armed encounter in Dera Bassi. The incident unfolded on the Dera Bassi–Ambala highway, where the suspects, reportedly acting under the command of Goldy Dhillon, engaged police in a firefight. The pursuit and subsequent capture resulted in two of the criminals sustaining bullet wounds, one severely. The Punjab DGP praised the swift action of the Anti-Gangster Task Force and local police. During the operation, around 15 shots were exchanged, but police personnel were unharmed due to their protective gear. Authorities seized a significant arsenal, comprising seven .32 calibre pistols and 70 live cartridges, from the apprehended group. Evidence suggests the gang was preparing for coordinated violent acts in the Tricity and Patiala areas, acting on instructions from handlers operating internationally. Investigators are actively probing the potential involvement of Pakistan in supplying these weapons, possibly through drone drops, to the Bishnoi gang. The ongoing inquiry aims to dismantle the entire network involved in these nefarious activities.
