Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Bihar and West Bengal today, engaging in the inauguration and laying of foundation stones for several development projects. The combined value of these projects approximates Rs 18,200 crore.
The Bihar leg of the visit includes an event in Gaya at around 11 am, where the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for projects worth about Rs 13,000 crore. The activities will comprise the flagging off of two trains and a public address. A highlight of the Bihar visit is the inauguration of the Auntha-Simaria bridge over the Ganga river. This bridge, with a length of 8.15 km, is situated on NH-31. It incorporates a 1.86 km six-lane bridge section, which cost over Rs 1,870 crore. The purpose of this bridge is to improve connectivity, linking Mokama in Patna to Begusarai, and thus diminishing the need for heavy vehicles to detour more than 100 km, a consequence of the current two-lane ‘Rajendra Setu’ bridge.
In West Bengal, the Prime Minister will commence his activities at approximately 4:15 PM with the inauguration of new Metro train sections in Kolkata, including a ride on the Metro from JC Road Metro Station to Jai Hind Airport. He will also participate in the foundation stone laying and inauguration of projects valued at over Rs 5,200 crore and address a public gathering.
The completion of these infrastructure facilities in both states aims to mitigate traffic issues and improve connectivity, demonstrating the Prime Minister’s continuous focus on infrastructure development.
