NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the newly-constructed Parliament developing on May 28.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla met Modi on Thursday and extended an invitation to inaugurate the model new developing, the Lok Sabha Secretariat said.
The new Parliament developing can comfortably seat 888 members inside the Lok Sabha chamber and 300 inside the Rajya Sabha chamber, it said.
In the case of a joint sitting of every Houses, a whole of 1,280 members could possibly be accommodated inside the Lok Sabha chamber.
The prime minister had laid the muse stone of the model new parliament developing on December 10, 2020. The new developing has been inbuilt report time with prime quality growth, the Lok Sabha Secretariat said.
The present Parliament developing was achieved in 1927 and is now 96 years outdated. Over the years, the outdated developing was found to be inadequate for present-day requirements.

The triangular-shaped four-storey developing has a built-up area of 64,500 sq. metres. The developing has three foremost gates — Gyan Dwar, Shakti Dwar, and Karma Dwar. It could have separate entrances for VIPs, MPs, and company.
The Congress took a swipe on the prime minister over the model new Parliament developing, calling it a “personal vanity project.”
Congress widespread secretary Jairam Ramesh posted on Twitter a picture of Modi whereas inspecting the event of the developing and said, “The sole architect, designer and worker for the new Parliament building, which he will inaugurate on May 28th.”
“The picture tells it all – personal vanity project,” Ramesh tweeted along with the picture.
The present developing served as neutral India’s first Parliament and witnessed the adoption of the Constitution.
Originally known as the Council House, the developing housed the Imperial Legislative Council.
