The third day of the Parliament’s Monsoon Session began at 11 am. The Opposition was anticipated to increase its pressure for a debate on the Pahalgam terror attack and the revision of voter rolls in Bihar. Continuous protests by Opposition members over these matters resulted in the adjournment of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
In the Lok Sabha, Opposition leaders gathered in the Well of the House at 11 am, displaying placards and shouting slogans to demand the revocation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar. Despite Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s appeal to allow Question Hour to take place, the protests continued, prompting Speaker Om Birla to adjourn the House until noon. The House was adjourned multiple times due to similar disruptions.
The Rajya Sabha saw comparable scenes, with consistent uproar concerning the same issues. The Upper House was eventually adjourned for the day shortly after reconvening post-lunch at 2 pm, with no business being conducted.
