The Air India plane crash on Thursday left one survivor, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh. He received injuries to his chest, eyes, and feet. According to Ramesh, a loud sound was heard around 30 seconds after takeoff, and then the plane crashed. He was visiting his family in India and was on his way back to the UK with his brother, Ajay Kumar Ramesh, when the accident occurred. Ramesh said that he woke up to a scene of bodies and debris. He was assisted by someone who helped him get to an ambulance and transported him to the hospital. Ramesh has been living in London with his family for the past two decades. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 242 individuals, including 12 crew members, crashed shortly after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday afternoon. The plane crashed into the doctors’ hostel near the airport perimeter. The flight had 230 passengers, including 169 Indians, 53 British, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian national. Captain Sumeet Sabharwal was the pilot. The aircraft departed Ahmedabad at 1339 IST (0809 UTC) from runway 23. It sent a Mayday call before losing contact with ATC. The plane went down outside the airport perimeter after takeoff from Runway 23, and heavy black smoke was observed at the scene.
