Noida: NRI forgets bag with jewelry price Rs 1 crore in cab, police get better it

NOIDA: A non-resident Indian, who has come from the UK for his daughter’s marriage ceremony, allegedly forgot a bag full of jewelry and valuables price over Rs 1 crore in a cab, police officers mentioned Thursday.

The bag together with its content material was recovered inside 4 hours after the Uber cab was traced within the adjoining Ghaziabad district by a workforce from the Bisrakh police station, an official mentioned.

According to the police, Nikhilesh Kumar Sinha (round 50 years) lives along with his household in London they usually have come to Greater Noida for his daughter’s marriage ceremony.

“When they reached Sarovar Portico hotel in the Gaur City area, they realised that one of the bags containing jewellery and other valuable items was missing and suspected it could have been left in the cab they had taken to reach the hotel,” a police spokesperson mentioned.

Anil Kumar Rajpoot, the in-charge of Bisrakh police station, informed PTI, “The household approached the police station round 4 pm after which a search was launched instantly. The household offered us with the cab driver’s quantity and we inquired about its dwell location from the Uber’s workplace in Gurgaon and traced it in Ghaziabad. After 4 hours of frantic searches, the cab driver was discovered within the Lal Kuan space of Ghaziabad and the bag was recovered from the boot of the car with all of the belongings secure in it, Rajpoot mentioned.

“The driver told the police that he was unaware of the bag being in the boot of his cab. The bag was locked and it was opened in front of the complainant, his relatives and the driver at the police station,” in line with the official.

“All the jewellery, which is worth about Rs 1 crore was found safe in the bag, which was handed over to Sinha. The family expressed gratitude for the work done by the police,” the official added.
