A night curfew has been imposed in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, specifically within a 2-kilometer range of the international border. The Samba District Magistrate’s order enforces the curfew to aid Border Security Force (BSF) operations and fortify security arrangements. The curfew will operate from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM nightly for a period of two months.
This area is known to be utilized by terrorists based in Pakistan for infiltrating into the Jammu region. The administration’s move comes after discussions with various parties, highlighting the importance of security. The purpose of the night curfew is to facilitate BSF operations and strengthen security.
The curfew will be in effect every night from 10 PM to 5 AM for the next two months, contingent on earlier withdrawal. The directive was formulated in conjunction with security agencies to enhance border monitoring and limit public movement at night, thus preventing illegal activities.
During curfew hours, only those with legitimate reasons will be permitted to move, and individuals must show identification to BSF or police when asked. Legal action will be taken against those who violate the order. A night curfew was in place in this Pakistani border area until the initial week of January.
Additionally, two rusted mortar shells were discovered on Tuesday in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, located along the Line of Control (LoC). Security forces successfully defused the shells. The discovery happened during a normal patrol near the forward posts along the LoC in the Balnoi area of the Mendhar belt. The site was cordoned off, and the bomb disposal squad was summoned, subsequently disposing of the shells safely.
