Navjot Sidhu hospitalised because of liver-related issues; situation steady

CHANDIGARH: Jailed Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was admitted to Chandigarh’s PGIMER on Monday afternoon because of liver-related issues, is in a steady situation, the medical facility stated.

He underwent a medical examination on the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research’s hepatology division within the morning.

In the afternoon, Sidhu was admitted to the PGIMER, the place he had been introduced underneath heavy safety from the Patiala jail. In the night, PGIMER issued a press release, saying Sidhu has been saved underneath commentary and is steady.

“Former Indian cricketer Shri Navjot Singh Sidhu has been admitted in hepatology ward, Nehru Hospital Extension, PGIMER, Chandigarh, due to liver-related problems and requires further evaluation. “He has been saved underneath commentary and is steady now,” the assertion stated, quoting Professor Virender Singh, head of the hepatology division on the hospital.

The former Punjab Congress chief was on May 20 despatched to the Patiala central jail in a 1988 street rage loss of life case. He has been sentenced to one-year rigorous imprisonment by the Supreme Court.

About two weeks again, Sidhu was taken to Rajindra Hospital in Patiala for a medical examination. The cricketer-turned-politician’s counsel, H P S Verma, lately stated Sidhu had sought a particular food plan in jail.

According to the counsel, Sidhu can not devour wheat, sugar, ‘maida’ and another meals objects. “He can have berries, papaya, guava, double-toned milk and food items which do not have fibre and carbohydrates,” Verma had stated.

The 58-year-old Congress chief suffers from medical situations like embolism and has a liver ailment.

In 2015, Sidhu had undergone therapy for acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT) at a hospital in Delhi. DVT is attributable to a blood clot in a deep vein which hinders the conventional blood movement.

The apex courtroom had sentenced Sidhu within the 34-year-old case, saying any undue sympathy in imposing an insufficient sentence would do extra hurt to the justice system and undermine the general public confidence within the efficacy of regulation. A 65-year-old man, named Gurnam Singh, had died within the incident.
