The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an important weather warning, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall across India for the next week. The monsoon is now active and will affect a large part of northwest, central, and eastern India. Continuous rain is expected in states like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Jharkhand. Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Odisha may receive excessive rainfall for a few days. According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall may also occur in Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and parts of Gujarat. This will increase moisture for agriculture, but also presents a risk of waterlogging and flash floods in sensitive areas. Saurashtra and Kutch are also expected to receive significant rainfall. Heavy to very heavy rainfall has also been predicted at isolated places in some areas of Northeast India. Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and Karnataka may also receive heavy rainfall on some days.
