Komagan, Chairman of the Gangaikondacholapuram Development Council Trust. Modi also engaged in a roadshow in Tiruchirappalli.
In Tiruchirappalli, PM Modi spoke about the Chola Empire, highlighting its importance as a golden period in Indian history and a key supporter of democratic principles. He drew a parallel between the Chola’s early electoral system and the later Magna Carta. The Prime Minister also mentioned the extensive diplomatic and trade connections of the Chola kings with countries like Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and nations in Southeast Asia. Modi commented on the timing of his return from the Maldives and his participation in the event.
PM Modi spoke of bringing Gangajal from Kashi, connecting the gesture with the legacy of the Chola kings and the ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative. He also expressed his appreciation for the spiritual significance of the region and his personal links to the area, noting his role as an MP from Kashi.
