Reacting to studies that China has assigned its personal title to fifteen locations in Arunachal Pradesh, the Ministry of External Affairs has mentioned that such a transfer doesn’t alter the truth that Arunachal is an integral a part of India.

A press release issued by the MEA spokesperson mentioned:

“We have seen such studies. This isn’t the primary time China has tried such a renaming of locations within the state of Arunachal Pradesh. China had additionally sought to assign such names in April 2017.

Arunachal Pradesh has all the time been, and can all the time be an integral a part of India. Assigning invented names to locations in Arunachal Pradesh doesn’t alter this truth.”

Earlier immediately, the Chinese state media home Global Times had reported that China has ‘standardised’ the names of 15 locations in Zangnan, the title China makes use of for Arunachal, ‘based on sovereignty and history’. The report had mentioned that China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs has renamed these locations in Arunachal, in accordance with rules on geographical names issued by the State Council, China’s cabinet. The new ‘standardised’ names had been issued in Chinese, Tibetan and Roman alphabet

The 15 locations assigned ‘standardised names’ included eight residential areas, 4 mountains, two rivers and one mountain go. This is the second such step taken by China, the nation had ‘renamed’ six locations in Arunachal in 2017 as a part of its ongoing declare that Arunachal is a part of China which it refers to as South Tibet or Zangnan.

‘It is a legitimate move and China’s sovereign proper to provide them standardized names. More standardized place names within the area can be introduced sooner or later,’ Lian Xiangmin, an skilled with the China Tibetology Research Center in Beijing, mentioned. He added that ‘it is part of a national effort to standardize the management of place names’.

The eight renamed locations are, Sêngkêzong and Daglungzong in Cona County of Shannan Prefecture, Mani’gang, Duding and Migpain in Medog County of Nyingchi, Goling, Damba in Zayu County of Nyingchi, and Mêjag in Lhunze County of Shannan Prefecture. Four mountains that new Chinese names are Wamo Ri, Dêu Ri, Lhünzhub Ri and Kunmingxingzê Feng, the 2 rivers are Xênyogmo He and Dulain He, and the mountain go Sê La in Cona County.

It is attention-grabbing to notice that there’s already a mountain go in Arunachal named Sela Pass, and it’s not identified whether or not the title Sê La has been assigned to this go solely.

In 2017, China had renamed 6 locations in Arunachal, in obvious retaliation in opposition to the Dalai Lama’s go to to the state.
