The NIA court concluded the 2008 Malegaon blast case on July 31, 2025, acquitting all defendants after a 17-year legal proceeding. Sadhvi Pragya Singh and Lt. Col. Purohit were among those cleared of all charges, including those under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Arms Act. The court found the prosecution’s evidence linking the bomb to the motorcycle insufficient. Compensation was awarded: Rs 2 lakh for the families of the six deceased victims and Rs 50,000 for the 95 injured individuals. The court stated that terrorism does not align with any religion. Advocate Shahid Nadeem plans to challenge the court’s decision in the High Court.
