Labourers employed for Modi’s occasion in Bengaluru allege non-payment of dues

BENGALURU: Labourers who had been employed to work for the revealing of the 108-foot-tall statue of Bengaluru’s founder Nadaprabhu Kempegowda by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 11 have lodged a police grievance alleging that they haven’t been paid their dues.

The grievance has been lodged by 40 labourers at Sidlaghatta police station in Chikkaballapur district in opposition to native BJP chief Nandeesh.

According to the police, the employees had been employed to work on the venue of the statue on the premises of Bengaluru International Airport.

It has been alleged that Nandeesh had promised to pay Rs 500 to every employee, however provided to pay solely Rs 100 after the completion of the programme.

The police are probing the matter.
