As part of the investigation into the gangrape of a law student, police reconstructed the crime scene at South Calcutta Law College on Friday. The four individuals arrested in connection with the case, including the prime suspect, were taken to the college early in the morning to recreate the events of the alleged incident. Those present included Monojit Mishra, Pramit Mukherjee, Zaib Ahmed, and Pinaki Banerjee. The reconstruction took approximately five hours. The police intend to cross-reference the findings of the reconstruction with the victim’s account and other evidence. The survivor mentioned the prevalence of fear concerning Mishra, who had previous connections to the ruling party, and claimed he was involved in intimidation tactics on campus. Mishra has a record of eleven cases against him, mainly related to harassment, and was out on bail. The college has since terminated Mishra’s contract. Mishra had previously attended the institute and was expelled in 2013. The court extended the custody of Mishra and the two students until July 8, while the security guard’s custody was extended until Friday.
