A Kolkata journalist was the victim of an assault on a bus, which resulted in the arrest of the perpetrator. The incident involved a 55-year-old man, identified as Sanjay Basak, who is accused of slapping, abusing, and molesting the woman. According to reports, the man was seated in a ladies’ seat on a private bus. The harassment began when he started touching the journalist inappropriately. When she requested him to stop, he responded with abusive language and criticized her for traveling late at night. The situation escalated when the man threw her bag, slapped her, and tore her clothes. The journalist, displaying remarkable courage, contacted the police and, with the help of her co-passengers, removed the man from the bus. The police have registered a case against Basak and arrested him on the spot, charging him with various offenses. The journalist has undergone a medical examination and will provide a confidential statement to the magistrate.
