The official announcement for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 has been made by the Election Commission of India, marking the beginning of the campaign for the 243-seat Vidhan Sabha. The voting process will unfold over two phases on November 6 and November 11, culminating in the vote count on November 14. The electoral battle is shaping up with alliances and independent forces making their presence felt. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has finalized its seat allocation: JDU and BJP will contest 101 seats each, while HAM and RLM are set to compete in six constituencies each. The LJP-RV, led by Chirag Paswan, will be participating in 29 seats.
Facing the NDA is the Mahagathbandhan, a coalition of RJD, Congress, VIP, and Left parties, all aiming to challenge the current government. The RJD has nominated 143 candidates following difficulties in reaching a seat-sharing consensus, leading to friendly contests in around 20 seats. Adding an independent dynamic, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj has announced its ambitious plan to contest all 243 seats alone. The AIMIM, led by Asaduddin Owaisi, which previously secured five seats, is also set to contest a significant number of constituencies, prompting discussions about potential polarization in Muslim-majority areas. The upcoming Bihar elections will feature a diverse range of candidates and political strategies across all constituencies.
