Anish Dayal Singh, the former Director-General of CRPF and ITBP, has been appointed as Deputy NSA. Singh, a retired IPS officer from the 1988 batch, retired last year. With nearly 30 years of experience in the Intelligence Bureau, Singh’s appointment brings a wealth of knowledge to the role.
Prior to his retirement, Anish Dayal Singh served as the DG of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024. Additionally, he held the position of DG of the ITBP. His career includes approximately 30 years of experience in ITBP and the Intelligence Bureau. Born in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, in 1964, he trained at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad. Singh’s achievements include strengthening the CRPF’s role in anti-Naxal operations and restructuring over 130 CRPF battalions. He has received several awards for his distinguished service, including the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2004 and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2012. As Deputy NSA, he will be in charge of internal matters such as Jammu and Kashmir, Naxalism, and Northeast insurgency.
