During a meeting with AAP members, Arvind Kejriwal criticized the BJP on multiple fronts, including the ongoing political targeting of AAP leaders, the impact of US tariffs on India, and the current governance situation in Delhi. He emphasized his commitment to the nation, stating that he would sacrifice everything for the country but would not compromise for power, party, or family.
Kejriwal discussed the actions taken by the ED against Saurabh Bhardwaj, citing the pressure to alter Bhardwaj’s statement and the resulting resistance. He highlighted that this was a common tactic in politics to suppress opposition.
Kejriwal criticized the BJP’s governance in Delhi, pointing out that within six months, the BJP had worsened conditions. He pointed out issues such as power cuts, higher school fees, broken roads, and water supply problems. He stated that this had caused distress to the public and that they would have to wait until the next election to vote the BJP out.
He stated that he has received information that the BJP government is planning to end the free electricity subsidy and that the AAP has to serve the people. He emphasized that the AAP’s main goal is to serve the country.
Kejriwal also addressed the US tariffs, noting how Trump imposed a 50% tariff on India, causing many businesses to close and leading to significant job losses. He contrasted this with Canada’s and the European Union’s response, which forced Trump to retract the tariffs. He expressed concerns about Modi’s response, stating that he should have imposed a 100% tariff on US cotton, but instead, he ended the 11% import duty on cotton. He concluded that Modi’s actions would be remembered in history as a national disgrace.
