The Delhi High Court has denied bail to Shabir Ahmad Shah, a Kashmiri separatist leader. The court pointed to compelling evidence supporting the accusations against him. Shah has been in judicial custody since June 2019 in connection with a terror funding case. The court’s decision highlighted the 24 FIRs of a similar nature against Shah and expressed concerns regarding his potential involvement in unlawful activities due to his position as the chairman of JKDPF. The High Court noted that the allegations against Shah appear to be true, based on prima facie evidence. The denial of bail also considered the risk of witness tampering. The High Court’s decision followed a previous denial of bail by the trial court.
