Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced the reopening of eight prominent tourist destinations in the Kashmir Valley. This move aims to bolster tourism, particularly after the closure of these sites following an incident in Pahalgam on April 22. LG Sinha stated the reopening was decided after careful consideration of the present conditions.
To safeguard tourists, roughly 48 destinations were temporarily closed. The initial phase of reopening includes attractions in Anantnag District, such as Betab Valley, Pahalgam, Verinag, Kokernag, and Achabal Gardens, along with the parks in the Pahalgam market. In Srinagar, Badamwari, Duck Park, and Taqdeer Park near Hazratbal will also be accessible to visitors once more.
LG Sinha anticipates that the upcoming Amarnath Yatra will significantly contribute to the revival of tourism in Kashmir. He encouraged people to participate in the annual pilgrimage to stimulate the local economy and revitalize tourism. This reopening is a significant step towards restoring Kashmir’s position as a prime tourist location, beckoning both local and national tourists to explore its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.
