Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi conducted a thorough assessment of the security situation in the Kashmir Valley. The review followed the recent Operation Sindoor, which was launched after the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam last month that resulted in the loss of 26 lives, primarily tourists. General Dwivedi’s visit included a review of preparations for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025, underscoring the need for robust security to protect pilgrims. He received briefings on the present operational landscape and broader strategic factors. General Dwivedi observed a demonstration that showcased the integration of cutting-edge technologies within military operations, with the goal of improving decision-making, surveillance, and response capabilities. The Chinar Corps was commended for its unwavering commitment to peace and stability through impactful counter-terror operations and regional development schemes. The Army chief received detailed updates on the current security dynamics, including the number of terrorists active in the valley, who are reportedly under significant pressure and are primarily concealed within forested areas. General Dwivedi accentuated the employment of modern technology in counter-terrorism measures, encompassing an anti-infiltration grid positioned along the Line of Control. He was apprised about the deployment of sophisticated surveillance equipment and continuous patrolling in vulnerable regions. Simultaneously, Baramulla police have achieved significant success in curbing anti-national activities, with the arrest of an individual in Pattan. During a focused search operation at the residence of Mohammad Maqbool Dar, authorities recovered incriminating evidence, including posters affiliated with the outlawed JK National Front, and a cache of live AK-47 rounds. The police have invoked multiple legal provisions and are pursuing additional investigations.
