A disturbing incident involving a wife and her lover has come to light in Ranchi, Jharkhand, where a murder was committed. The case is from the Pithoria police station area. The victim, Lumba Oraon, was found dead in a secluded spot near his village, Rahra Monajara, prompting an immediate police response.
The police, acting on the case, formed a team under the direction of Ranchi’s SSP, Chandaan Kumar Sinha, and Rural SP Praveen Pushkar. The investigation uncovered that the victim’s wife, Geeta Devi, and her lover, Irfan Ansari, had been involved in an illicit affair for eight years. When Lumba found out about the affair, he objected, resulting in conflict. As a result of her feelings for Irfan, Geeta became an adversary to her husband. To monitor her husband’s activities, Geeta and Irfan installed CCTV cameras in the home.
For about eighteen months, Geeta and her lover, Irfan, planned the murder. They sought information from YouTube videos. On August 20th, Geeta deceived Lumba by asking him to accompany her to see a rental property near Kanke’s BAU. She then gave him a cold drink with sleeping pills, followed by alcohol with more sleeping pills. They then took Lumba in an Omni car. Irfan Ansari strangled Lumba Oraon in the car while Geeta watched. The body was discarded in bushes outside the village to give the impression that the death was caused by drinking too much.
SSP cum DIG Chandaan Singh explained that the couple had been studying different murder methods on YouTube, hoping to make the death look like an accident. Following the investigation, Geeta Devi and Irfan Ansari were arrested. An Omni car, a motorcycle, a bottle of alcohol with sleeping pills, and two empty cold drink bottles that were used to drug Lumba were also confiscated by the police.
