In a shocking incident in Latakandar village, Shikaripara police station area, Dumka, a man suffered a severe injury when his tongue was cut off. Following the assault, the man received initial medical attention at Shikaripara Community Health Center and was later referred for further treatment. His family chose to move him to Bardhaman, West Bengal, where he is currently receiving treatment.
A woman was held by villagers and tied to a tree until the police arrived. The Shikaripara police responded to the scene, released the woman, and brought her to the station for questioning. Laltu Sheikh’s wife, Jelenur Bibi, submitted a complaint at the Shikaripara police station. Her statement explained that her husband, Laltu Sheikh, had left to go to Ganpura. When he did not come back, they looked for him. After a while, he returned home unable to speak, with blood coming from his mouth. He used gestures to indicate that Kalavati Murmu, along with six or seven other unknown individuals, had imprisoned him, tried to kill him, tied his hands and feet, cut off his tongue, and severely beat him. The injured wife has requested that strict legal action be taken. The station in-charge, Amit Lakra, stated that the incident is under investigation, and they are trying to get the victim’s statement to understand what happened.
