Hazaribagh MLA Pradeep Prasad made an unannounced visit to the Chhadwa Dam drinking water store on Sunday, voicing his profound displeasure with its severely unhygienic conditions. The inspection uncovered a deeply troubling scenario, with the water store presenting a picture of neglect and contamination. Significant amounts of dirt and filth were observed, alongside a complete absence of proper water treatment, such as the use of bleaching powder, and routine sanitation practices. The accumulation of algae posed a clear and present danger to public health. The MLA also observed that the external environment of the water store was equally neglected, filled with refuse and lacking basic organization, underscoring the department’s failure in its maintenance obligations.
In light of these alarming deficiencies, MLA Pradeep Prasad directed the Municipal Commissioner and concerned officials to implement immediate remedial measures. This includes a complete sanitation of the water supply network, the mandatory and regular application of bleaching powder, and the crucial assurance of a constant supply of pure and secure drinking water to the city’s inhabitants. The MLA firmly stated that lapses in providing such a fundamental service are intolerable. He promised to maintain close scrutiny over the matter and to engage with the relevant department to ensure all necessary actions are taken, thereby safeguarding the timely delivery of clean and safe drinking water to every household in Hazaribagh.
