The Ghurti Rath Yatra, a significant event in the annual Rath Yatra celebrations, is taking place on July 6, 2025. This marks the return of Lord Jagannath, accompanied by his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra, to the main temple from Mausi Badi. The initial journey on the chariot occurred on June 27th, commencing a nine-day period away from the temple. The return journey, the Ghurti Rath Yatra, is a highly anticipated event where devotees gather to pull the ropes of the chariot.
The Ranchi district administration has completed its preparations for the event. Additional security personnel have been deployed to manage the expected large crowds. CCTV and drones are being used for surveillance across the fair area. The Ghurti Rath Yatra also signifies the end of the fair. Morning rituals at Mausi Badi began at 5 AM today. The darshan at Mausi Badi will close around 2:50 PM. Following this, the deities will be moved to the chariot, and the Rath Yatra will begin its journey to the main temple at 4 PM. The deities are expected to enter the main temple from the chariot by 6:00 PM. Special darshan opportunities for women on the chariot have been arranged from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The deities will be enshrined in the main temple by 7 PM today, followed by the Maha Aarti and the closing of the temple doors after special offerings. The Rath Yatra symbolizes the faith, traditions, and joyous celebrations dedicated to Lord Jagannath.
