A spectacular display of martial arts prowess began Tuesday at Sarla Birla Public School in Ranchi with the commencement of the 8th B.K. Birla Ranchi District Inter-School Taekwondo Championship 2025-26. The Ranchi District Taekwondo Association is orchestrating this prominent two-day event, which has attracted over 230 enthusiastic participants from more than 16 schools within the district. Competitors are demonstrating their skills in the Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 age brackets, for both male and female athletes. The first day saw intense action in the Under-14 category, with the Under-17 and Under-19 contests slated to wrap up on October 15th. The opening ceremony was a vibrant affair, highlighted by an impressive welcome dance that seamlessly integrated Taekwondo techniques with artistic flair. The event was further energized by motivating speeches from special guests and a ceremonial lamp-lighting. The championship’s overarching goal is to promote physical fitness, mental resilience, strict discipline, and a commitment to fair play among the student participants. Addressing the competitors, Principal Manisha Sharma urged them to perform to the best of their abilities and maintain sportsmanship. She underscored Taekwondo’s significance as a discipline that cultivates focus, respect, and self-assurance, adding that such tournaments are crucial for developing students’ physical and mental capabilities, thereby instilling core values of confidence and discipline.
