Tensions surrounding control of sand and mineral resources in Jharkhand continue to escalate, with criminal gangs clashing for dominance. A video has emerged from the Chhapar Ghat in Ranchi’s Budhmu area, where a man identified as Bhavani Singh issued threats to rival gangs. The video features gunfire and explicit warnings of violence, related to the control of sand extraction. Police are investigating the threats. According to Ranchi SSP cum DIG Chanda Kumar Sinha, the authorities are aware of the video and are taking action. This follows a history of violence, including an incident in 2024 where multiple vehicles were set ablaze at the Chhapar sand ghat, due to disputes over sand extraction and extortion demands.
