A significant police operation in Ranchi has led to the capture of two operatives linked to the notorious Sujeet Sinha gang, following a confrontation near Balsiring in the Tupudana OP jurisdiction. The early morning clash on Monday resulted in one criminal being wounded and two being taken into custody. Three handguns were also recovered by the authorities.
This encounter is understood to be connected to a recent act of intimidation where criminals fired shots at the home of Monu Rai in the Doranda area. The individuals arrested, including the injured Aftab and Sonu, are alleged to have carried out the Doranda shooting on Sujeet Sinha’s orders.
Rural SP Praveen Pushkar reported that the exchange of fire led to one suspect sustaining a gunshot wound, while two others were successfully apprehended. Three pistols were found at the scene. Police are continuing their efforts to gather more intelligence.
The operation gained momentum after SSP Rakesh Ranjan was tipped off about the gang’s activities. A specialized unit, including Rural SP Praveen Pushkar and Hatiya DSP P.K. Mishra, along with officers from several police stations, intensified surveillance and set up checkpoints throughout the city. A crucial arrest was made during a motorcycle checkpoint when a pistol was found.
Under interrogation, the arrested motorcyclist, identified as Sonu, a prominent member of the Sujeet Sinha gang, revealed the location of other gang members. He indicated they were gathered near the Balsiring hills. Acting promptly, Rural SP Praveen Pushkar directed a team to the location. Upon sighting the police, the criminals initiated firing. The police returned fire, resulting in Aftab sustaining injuries and another associate being arrested. Both apprehended individuals are currently being interrogated, with SSP Rakesh Ranjan visiting the scene to brief himself on the developments.
